Behind the wool

HI, with lots of new followers and subscribers recently it seemed a great time to introduce ourselves again and give you a bit more of the background behind The Rushlade Wool Company.

I’m Jess and I farm alongside my husband Russ, within the Dartmoor National Park in Devon. We have a young family and started Rushlade Wool back in 2017 when we started to look at the opportunities for the wool that we were producing as a by product of our sheep farming.

Russ has a full time job off the farm and I went on Maternity leave from my Rural Surveying career with the birth of our first child in January 2017. We moved to Rushlade to live on the farm and have our flock on the doorstep and we have never looked back! I now spend my time looking after the mini farmers and keep the farm ticking over whilst working on the wool business as much as possible.

Back in 2017 the business was selling raw wool to spinners. We added the Merino ewes to the flock and looked at the different avenues available to us to give value to this amazing natural material. By 2018 we had sent our first batch of Merino to the mill and our yarn journey began! Today we have four different bases available in a range of natural

and dyed skeins, a range of garments and lots of plans for the future!!

Everything that we sell is 100% British Wool from our farm. Our sheep are raised with love and care and our products are of a very high quality made with integrity and respect for the world around us.

We love what we do and we hope that you love what we make! Check out our range of woolly goodies online at www.Rushladewool.co.uk!

Thanks for reading!

Jess
